ROCKSHIELD™ Wear Technology
ROCKSHIELD™ 5357 Wear Plate is designed for applications involving impact loads and abrasion. With a hardness range of 53–57 HRC, it provides reliable wear protection for demanding industrial applications.
ROCKSHIELD™ 5357 is a carbide overlay wear plate manufactured using a submerged arc welding (SAW) process, depositing a highly wear-resistant carbide layer onto a mild-steel base. The carbide structure and supporting matrix are engineered to provide dependable protection in abrasive industrial service.
For engineering selection, evaluate the actual wear mechanism, impact load, temperature, material handled and component geometry rather than hardness alone.
Nominal hardness range
A hard carbide structure provides the primary wear-resistant working surface while the metal matrix supports the deposited layer.
Designed for components exposed to recurring material flow, sliding wear, impact or abrasive contact.
Common component types can include:
Wear protection for demanding industrial service.

Select the appropriate ROCKSHIELD™ grade based on hardness and the primary wear conditions of your application.
| Grade | Hardness (HRC) | Primary Application |
|---|---|---|
| ROCKSHIELD™ 5357 | 53–57 HRC | Impact load and abrasion |
| ROCKSHIELD™ 5560 | 55–60 HRC | Medium impact load and abrasion |
| ROCKSHIELD™ 5860 | 58–60 HRC | Regular abrasion and medium impact load |
| ROCKSHIELD™ 6062 | 60–62 HRC | Regular abrasion and erosion resistant |
| ROCKSHIELD™ 6265 | 62–65 HRC | Regular abrasion at high temperature |
Grade selection should reflect the actual operating condition.
